This is a program for skilled professionals who want to settle in Canada permanently and take part in the Canadian
economy. There are three streams under this program.
- Canadian experience class – for workers who have Canadian work experience
- Federal Skilled Worker Program – for skilled workers with work experience outside Canada.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program – for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade for example mechanic, plumber, welder etc.
To determine your eligibility, certain factors including work experience, education and language skills are considered. Based on the outcome of the assessment of these factors, you are awarded a score based the Comprehensive Ranking
System (CRS) and then placed into a pool of applicants. For every round of invitations, there is a minimum score and for you to be invited your score must be above the minimum for that round. This process typically takes about 6 months or less.
