In January 2020, The Government of Alberta conducted 2 draws where invitations to apply for permanent residence through the provincial program were issued to candidates in two separate draws. On January 22nd, 2020 a total of 201 invitations were issued to applicants with CRS scores as low as 350 while another 150 invitations was issued on the 29th of January 2020 to candidates in the Express entry pool with CRS scores as low as 300.
Alberta is one of the few provinces that has been selecting candidates in the express entry pool with CRS scores of as low as 300. When selected, candidates will be awarded additional 600 points which guarantees an Invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence through the express entry. Candidates with a low CRS scores can look to Alberta as a means to migrate to Canada through provincial nominee program. The Alberta express entry stream does not require applicants to have a job offer in Alberta in order to be selected to apply for Canadian permanent residence even though, having a job offer or work experience in Alberta can further increase a candidate’s chances.
