Ontario, on Thursday, August 1, 2019 issued 1,773 invitations to candidates in the Express Entry pool who had work experience in one of six tech occupations. The invitation was only sent to candidates who has a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 435. The Comprehensive ranking system is a points-based system that is used to assess, score and rank candidates in the Express Entry pool. The Express Entry pool is Canada’s main source of foreign skilled worker. Candidates are ranked against each other in the pool. The highest-ranking individuals are then selected from the pool.
The Tech Draw was introduced in July 2019 and so far, a total of 3,394 Candidates have been invited. The Six occupations are listed below
- Software Engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
- Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
- Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
- Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
- Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
- Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)

Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program is referred to as Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. Through this program, interested candidates with skills and experience who will contribute to the development of Ontario and meet work market demands are targeted by the province. Interested candidates will apply for a provincial nomination to Ontario and candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Ontario can apply for permanent residence to the Government of Canada.
